The National Quality Supervision and Test Centre for Meat Products
The National Quality Supervision and Test Centre for Meat Products is a state level meat food test agency authorized in conformity with legal provisions by General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China and is attached to CMRC. Meanwhile, it is also the Beijing No.3 Station for Food Quality Supervision and Test authorized in conformity with legal provisions by Beijing Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision.
The National Quality Supervision and Test Centre for Meat Products has 240 sets (pieces) of laboratory facilities, in which 60 pieces of the instruments are analytical instruments. There are more than 10 professor level senior engineers, senior engineers and engineers. Many stuff hold doctorate or master's degrees. It has more than 20 years’ rich experience in food scientific research and test.
The centre's main task is to: take on the national designated food quality supervision and random inspection, the identification inspection of new products and high-quality food; inspect the food with the implementation of food production license certification; identify and test grade for the quality of food; take the responsibility of meat food quality inspection of dispute arbitration; research and develop new testing technology and methods; carry out technical guidance and training of personnel for local food quality testing agencies; undertake or participate in the establishment, amendments of national, industrial and local standards as well as the test verification work of relevant standards.
Our centre's business scope includes seven main categories of food products: livestock and poultry meat products, eggs and egg products, aquatic products, fast-frozen food, frozen drinks, cold drink food, water and water-related products. Our centre has the inspection capability for various items of the products involved in its business scope with sophisticated equipment, highly- qualified personnel, strict management, perfect system, and moreover, it also can provide testing services of nearly 200 items for other food.
Since its establishment in 1986, the center has been taking on the scientific research projects from state and local government, has participated in a number of major national projects of meat products, and established national standards of GB / T 9695 series, GB9959, GB/T5009.192, GB / T20711, GB/T20712, etc., as well as industrial standards of meat food such as SB / T 10003, SB / T 10278, SB / T 10279, SB / T 10281, SB / T 10282, SB / T 10283, etc.
Since 1990, commissioned by the relevant government departments the centre carried out the supervision and random inspection for the quality of cooked meat products in more than 30 areas except for Taiwan and Tibet; the national supervision and inspection for bottled natural mineral water and purified drinking water; the product quality authentication and random inspection for the product identification work of fast-frozen food, the training for a large number of domestic and foreign food analysis and inspection personnel. These efforts played a very good role for regulating market, supporting the superior and restricting the inferior, guiding consumption, and servicing enterprises, meanwhile, they also have made prominent contributions to the fight against fake and shoddy products and the protection of consumers’ legitimate rights and interests.
In 1999, the laboratory of our centre passed the on-site assessment of China National Accreditation Board for Laboratories (CNAL), furthermore, it also assisted CNAL to complete the mutual recognition with Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC) and commended by CNAL.
Since 2000, the centre devoted to develop various drug residue testing methods of livestock and poultry meat. Now we are undertaking the guarantee of food safety of the Olympic Games namely the task of "prohibited drug-testing in animal-derived food ". In recent three years, the centre has established and improved the food security system, strengthened the consciousness of responsibility, service and contribution. It can fully meet the demand of all society for food safety testing.
